A Customer Service Representative creates and maintains a public atmosphere of trust and confidence in the administration of policies and procedures for the Independence Blue Cross Family of Companies, by providing accurate and courteous responses to inquiries received from members. - Create accurate and timely member documentation concerning all phone calls taken according to departmental operating guidelines.
- Present and project a positive image of the company in and out of the office to fellow employees, members, providers, and the community.
- Strive for first call resolution while ensuring that the inquiries have been addressed to the customer’s satisfaction.
- Investigate requests from customers for refunds, credits and retroactive changes as appropriate.
- Follow-up with customers and make outbound calls when necessary to prevent additional calls and customer dissatisfaction.
- Perform other duties as required.

- High School Diploma or equivalent knowledge acquired by work experience and training or GED, 2 years college education preferred
- Working Knowledge of customer service methods and practices.
- Basic Understanding with medical terminology and Working Knowledge of retiree health care products, Medicare products and CMS guidelines. Customer Service experience working with the retiree population helpful.
- The ability to research and analyze information from various systems, make responsible decision and demonstrate customer focused professionalism at all times is necessary.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
- Working Knowledge of MS Office Suite
