National Benefits Consultant - Sales

Responsible for developing and maintaining a consultative relationship with national customers, national consultants and brokers to develop national new business prospects and sales.

Leads and executes successful end to end sales process for portfolio of products directly and/or through broker/consultants

Assumes role of trusted strategic consultative partner of our customers

Works with clients or client's designee (i.e. consultant, broker, financial officer, etc.) for effective strategy of product(s) application to meet account needs, resulting in sale of Independence Blue Cross products.

Articulate a consistent delivery of company’s value proposition as well as own responsibility to tell the Independence story with minimal reliance upon subject matter experts.

Demonstrate data-driven, solutions based orientation to drive results for our customers and Independence.

Exude self-motivated ownership of metric-driven results, continually acting with a sense of urgency to ensure that results are attained, if not exceeded

Maintains complete awareness of local, state and federal industry related mandates as well as market trends and competitive information.

Develops & delivers consultative & effective sales presentations.

Handle special projects as well as account specific activities assigned by management.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Minimum of seven (7) years’ work experience in health insurance/related industry sales where building relationships and financial analysis are essential.

Successful track record of outside sales performance including prospecting/qualifying national prospects in the insurance business including health, managed care products, life and disability.

Experience must include large account management, product knowledge, benefit interpretation background, strong understanding of risk management practices and rating, utilization management and data reporting.

Strong benefits consulting background, including professional sales presentations to decision makers, a successful record of developing sales leads, recruiting brokers and a record of increasing market penetration over time.

Strong persuasion skills, effective communicator, and excellent relationship-building skills.

Excellent oral and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to develop and deliver presentations.

Demonstrated ability to develop strong working relationships with matrix business partners

Demonstrated organizational/planning skills, ability to prioritize work and plan for both long and short term.

Knowledge of health insurance products, services, and administration required as is a broad understanding of health insurance funding and rating methodologies.

In-depth financial acumen is essential.

Strong strategic and analytical skills.

Self-motivated and goal oriented

Flexibility in a variety of settings and ability to work effectively under pressure

Able to work independently with drive to excel.

Attention to detail is essential.

Demonstrated experience with the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as CRM packages required.

Candidates must possess active PA State Accident & Health license.

Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and a reliable car and must have a cell phone.

Extensive local and national travel is required.
