The Senior Research Analyst is responsible for the following: 

  • Responsible for coordinating and carrying out health outcomes/services analyses and projects in support of the various business areas such as care management, disease management and medical cost transformation.
  • Partner with internal and external clinical clients to identify intervention opportunities and develop robust analytics solutions focused on providing actionable insights.
  • Help to build out analytics and reporting products/offerings through application of data analysis and data aggregation tools to drive broader adoption and growth of capability.
  • Serve as strategic advisor to internal and external clients in clinical reporting and analytics helping to build business relationships which feed ideation and innovation

Reporting and Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position reports to the Manager, Medical Cost & Business Analytics in the Informatics department.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Working independently with the clinical client areas providing analytical, reporting and project implementation support
  • Lead projects to support corporate initiatives and develop innovative solutions for more effective stratification and program identification.
  • Develop health services reporting using clinical, survey, or administrative data in support of Informatics analytical projects
  • Analyze and condense complex claims, authorizations, and membership data into meaningful summaries
  • Summarize, interpret and present results in a clear, concise manner for internal and external clients 
  • Interpret utilization and medical cost trends and investigate abnormalities; compare to industry trends/benchmarks


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Advanced degree in public health, nursing, epidemiology, health care, statistics or related quantitative area, plus one year industry experience preferred
  • Advanced SQL / R / SAS programming skills with emphasis in large datasets
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Powerpoint, Excel, Word)
  • Experience analyzing large datasets, demonstrable technical experience and data management skills including data extraction, data scrubbing, data transformation and QA
  • Experience engaging directly with business leaders and executives
  • Background in healthcare data preferred
  • Strong skills in carrying out projects independently
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
